Deborah Herberger Psychotherapy
Largely informed by the theory of C.C. Jung, I believe in the importance of making room in the therapeutic process for that which is not yet known.  That is, to allow that which was once unconscious to become more conscious.  I encourage my clients to honor dreams as "gifts from the unconscious" and may assist exploration of dream material in a therapy session. I have been involved in dream work for over 20 years and have served on the board of the Atlanta Jung Society for over 10 years.

I am a National Guild Certified Feldenkrais® practitioner.

This method of somatic education emphasizes greater self awareness through the acknowledgement of habitual patterns of posture and movement.  It encourages gentle exploration of the relationship of neuromuscular patterns in the body to one's "habits of psyche," that is thought, perception, and behavior.

While acknowledging that habitual patterns can contribute to feeling "stuck" in one's body and in one's life, I encourage an attitude of curiosity vs. criticism and judgement while exploring such habits and patterns.  I may incorporate mindfulness or awareness techniques in a psychotherapy session and also conduct classes in Awareness Through Movement ®.

Initially licensed as a physical therapist, I continue to practice physical therapy in the Atlanta area, contracting primarily at the Atlanta Back Clinic in Tucker Georgia.  My approach to physical therapy incorporates neuromuscular re-education along with other techniques of manual therapy, therapeutic movement, and exercise.  I find a mind-body approach to be helpful in treating physical injuries and dysfunction, and I assist the patient in understanding the relationship of the neuromuscular to the musculoskeletal in the healing process.  I perform individual assessment and treatment and teach group classes in Awareness Through Movement ®.
